I would like to add, that I kept losing after eating ICE CREAM AND CHOCOLATE!!!! Okay, okay. Not the normal stuff you are thinking of. But JUST as delicious, if not more!!! And I want to share these with you, because they have been a life saver with sweet cravings!!!!
First, Coconut Bliss. This is a non-dairy, vegan, low glycemic, gluten free, and soy free treat. It is basically ice cream, but they call it a "frozen dessert." We had dark chocolate, which was DELICIOUS, but come to find out, there are many flavors. They are kind of pricey, we spent about $6 for a pint. But, I will say that because I don't have sweets on a regular basis anymore, that I didn't want as much as I used to. Cody and I split half of the pint, and the other half we are saving for another night. And that was plenty for me. This is coming from a girl that used to split a half gallon of ice cream with her dad, possibly while watching Star Wars (for some reason that specific night is more memorable for me.) I think it also helps that I am able to tell when I am full more easily, and I don't have the tolerance for overeating anymore. So, even though it costs more than I usually spend on ice cream, I am rarely eating it anyway, so it will last and be worth the money to quench the ice cream cravings. Check out their website for where to buy and to see the flavors http://coconutbliss.com/ they also have a very cute store of how it all started. Thanks Luna and Larry for saving my ice cream sanity while staying healthy!!!
The second treat I want to share with you is one my sister introduced to me. It is called Primal Fudge, although I don't see any reason that it isn't Paleo as well. Last night we had a little family BBQ because my grandma and her twin sister came in town this weekend. Megan, my sister, made some sweets for the event, and was nice enough to make something Paleo for Cody and I. Yup, my sister is awesome. She found the recipe on Pinterest, but here is a link directly to it http://www.keyingredient.com/recipes/173966612/primal-fudge/ I am not sure where it originated, but thank you to whomever thought this up. THESE ARE AMAZING!!!! Sweet, thick, and satisfying. And simple, healthy ingredients! Coconut oil, almond butter, cocoa powder, honey, and vanilla. That is it! She said it only took a few minutes to prep, and then let it sit in the fridge to harden. I am telling you, I am hooked. The best part is that I had 5 of them (yup) and I still lost weight today. AMAZING. I will always have these on hand from now on for those terrible cravings.
Hopefully these wonderful discoveries will help you to continue on your journey for better health. I know it is especially hard on holiday weekends when there are so many tempting things, so hopefully this kind of stuff will help. I will continue to try to post anything that we have found helpful ourselves.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day weekend!!!
